Rebecca Schubert – Staff Profile

Meet Rebecca Schubert – Software developer

After escaping a job in retail and a brief stint in hospitality, Rebecca became a tutor at Flinders University in 2010. She went on to be a Web Publisher for an economic development agency the following year and then a Web Developer at privately owned Australian hydrometric consultancy before finding her way to Axios in 2014.

How long have you been with Axios?

Just over 3 years

What do you do at Axios?

As a Software Developer, currently focussing on a particular client were I analyse requirements, design solutions, estimate how long each part would take, develop (code) the product.

What do you do in your spare time?

I really like hanging out at the beach, stand up paddle boarding on calm days, and under the right conditions going for a surf. But since we’ve just been through winter, I mostly spend my time reading and watching anime.

Why did you choose Axios?

After being made redundant from Water Data Services I struggled to find an IT job I was suitable for in South Australia, and was considering going back to study. Fortunately I got through to the interview process with Axios (having completed one of the tests while on the road in Tasmania) and was selected as the successful applicant.

What do you like most about Axios?

Working with a bunch of nice people.

What is your favourite quote?

I haven’t got a favourite quote

What is your biggest achievement?

Buying a house – it was not easy
